First Images of DJ Hero Peripheral Released
Activision Made Me Say "Dope" Twice This Morning...
by Sean
There are two kinds of people in the world - those who are excited by Activision's upcoming wheels-of-stainless-steel simulator DJ Hero, and those who are not. As a man who cut his musical teeth listening to acts like DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jam Master Jay, and MARRS, but never had the ambition to actually learn how to mix, I fall into the former category. Sure, rhythm games have been done to death, but this IP seems to bring something new to the table (get it?).
Today the world gets its first look at the turntable peripheral that aspiring mixmasters will be throwing down on, with two official images. The first one you can see above, here's the second. Check-a-check it out:
The press release that included the images was very sparse on details about the game. There's no word yet on whether or not the game will ship with two turntables and a microphone, or if we'll have to make do with just the one. I've contacted Activision and will let you know what they say.
Anyone else feeling like this could be the new party sensation? Then somebody, anybody, everybody, SCREAM!

Seems way too simplistic right now. Needs at least a "mixer" peripheral so you can accurately recreate the sensation of scratching. Two turntables would be nice, but one with a mixer would suffice.
Still, the actual turntable looks like a quality peripheral. Not lightweight and shitty as I had imagined.
Awesome
To quote a wise man, "Booooooooooring!"
Not at your article, Sean, just at this game in general.
@Sarah - May I ask why this game bores you?
It looks like a retarded monkey got a hold of some stuff in the lab and went to town.
These are both digital renderings. Call me when you have an actual photograph of the physical peripheral.
Until then, consider my hands thrown in the air....
@Raccoon: Firstly, I have no interest in simulating the DJ experience, nor have I ever. In fact, I don't really frequent places where DJs are used, so it's not really my thing.
Secondly, I don't trust Activision to make great games under the "Hero" name. And this is from someone who used to be a Guitar Hero fanatic. The shameless milking of what used to be one of my favorite franchises really soured me on the whole experience, and the company in general.
