Forza 3 Goes Gold, Demo Dated

It's Gold Jerry, GOLD!

by Sean

In a press release filled with car-related puns, Microsoft has announced that the 360 exclusive racer Forza Motorsport 3 has gone gold, meaning that the game's code is finished and it's ready to ship to stores. While that in and of itself isn't exactly breaking news (as much as, say, a delay would have been), MS has sweetened the pot by also announcing that the game will be getting a playable demo beginning on September 24th.

The demo will unlock five cars, all drivable on the game's Camino Viejo track. Camino Veijo will take players on a tour of an area inspired by the Montserrat region of Spain, found just outside of Barcelona. All of the game's damage modeling, including rollover, and the newly added rewind feature will be available. The demo also adds support for lap time leaderboards, a rare addition for a game demo. The licensed playable cars are:

  • 2007 Porsche #80 Flying Lizard 911 GT3-RSR
  • 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI Quattro
  • 2009 Ferrari California
  • 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR
  • 2009 Mini John Cooper Works

With the demo dropping on the 24th, players will almost a full month to try out Forza 3 before it hits stores on October 27th. Read on for the full press release.
