Games That Log Hours
How much of my life have I wasted?

So there I was last night, playing my way through Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess which I've been playing for a little while. Actually, I've been playing it for 32 hours and 43 minutes. Wanna know how I know that? The game keeps track of it for me. Every time I save, it adds more and more time to that clock telling me how long I've been playing
I am not a fan of this. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with logging hour after countless hour playing any game that has the ability to keep me interested. And few games (if any) can offer as much fun for hour after hour like the games of the Zelda series.
But there's the rub: countless hours playing video games do not need to be counted. That's the whole point. I know that I spend a large amount of time playing games. I just hate to have my system remind me of exactly how many hours and minutes total.

For me, the most effort I've ever put into a console game is probably Super Mario Sunshine. I still wonder if that Durian shop is open on the north shore of Isle Delfino. The most for a cooperative game, Halo (im a male). But the most I've spent all together is likely on the Mac version of Star Wars Dark Forces, back in the day. You had to learn Bothan to find keys to open doors to fight Boba Fett, tough as shit.
is *is* a little unsettling to see those totals... but is that time really "wasted"? i've never spent as much time on a console game as i used to spend MUDing, though! that pretty much took up my entire freshman year. eternity's trials, anyone?
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
Nothing that is this much fun or as interesting can be done quickly.
If it was quick we would not be saying this is fun, we would be saying it would be better if I couldn't finish in 10 minutes.
/played in MMO's makes me cry. =(
If I added up all of the hours I've played video games it would have to be at least over 50,000 hours
