Gary Oldman (Accidentally) Confirms Dark Knight Game

The Snitch was in Gordon's Office the Whole Time

by Sean

The second installment in the Christopher Nolan-directed Batman movies, The Dark Knight, opened this past weekend to critical acclaim and worldwide audience acceptance. It broke the record for opening weekend box office, bringing in over $155 million in its first three days. So it would seem logical and natural for some company to put out a game based on the film. But there has been a conspicuous absence of information relating to a game. Outside of some rumors about EA having the license and that it is possibly going to be released to coincide with the DVD, no other facts have seen the light of day on this one.

But today the light of truth has shined through the darkness of rumor to show that, yes Virginia, there is a Dark Knight game. During the press junket run-up to the movie's release, G4 TV got a chance to talk to Gary Oldman. And in the course of the interview, Gary spills the beans and confirms that there is indeed a game on its way.

Now, I originally read about this over on Joystiq. Their original article had a YouTube video which was later pulled. It looked like G4 was going all over the web making sure that anyone who had posted the video was pulling it down. It may seem strange for a news outlet to take down evidence of a story that they broke, but bear in mind, I didn't say news. I said G4. Chances are EA or Warner Bros. made them take it down, but then when I checked back later, the video had reappeared.

So here it is, courtesy of Gametrailers:

Well, there you have it. As we all know, there is no way that Commissioner Gordon would lie to the public, although I would hope that he'd hold up a bit better under interrogation. I mean, he gives up all the goods without any good cop/bad cop or waterboarding.

Stay tuned for more concrete info on the Dark Knight game as it becomes available.

I saw this last night. I just hope that a good movie becomes a good game. Video game companies just can't always afford to rush things.
