Get Your First Look at DJ Hero 2

Yo DJs, Pump this Party!

by Sean

It was only Tuesday that we learned about the existence of DJ Hero 2, the sequel to Activision's latest wrinkle on the rhythm game genre. We found out that the game would allow for twice as many turntables as well as a microphone, but without any screenshots or action footage, we didn't know how exactly it would work. A new trailer out today shows us just that, in a wholly unoriginal way.

Is anyone else a little disappointed that the whole "two turntables and a microphone" thing really just means three player support? I don't know what exactly I was expecting, but I thought we'd get something more akin to a real DJ experience, which would mean two turntables for one player. I realize that that would mean a whole new controller or peripheral for the game, but since you'll need to buy a second turntable anyway, what difference does it make?

As for the trailer itself, Activision has opted for the tried, tested, and tired cliche' of a group of ethnically diverse people hanging around in an unrealistic living room area, dancing in a way that no one ever has during a party involving a rhythm game.

Come on Activision. You can do better.
