Strategic dismemberment is a term that was popularized in reference to Visceral's survival horror game Dead Space. It means exactly what it sounds like- that the best way to kill a necromorph is to pick the parts of each type that would be most effective for slowing it down before dispatching it. Essentially, it's a combat system that emphasizes strategy over firepower. For Dead Space 2, Visceral has decided to up the number of ways by which Isaac Clarke will be able to shred a necromorph, and is turning to you to come up with some ideas. A contest announced today challenges players to "think up the coolest way for Isaac to rip apart a necromorph". There's good and bad news for the lucky winner, as the top prize is to have his or her face mapped onto an NPC in DS2. That's the good news. The bad news is that the NPC will be killed by a necromorph.

If you have an interesting idea for how Isaac can separate a necromorph from itself, you can enter here. Entries can be text, audio, or video, and must be submitted by March 26th. After that, Visceral will pick their ten favorite entries and open it up to the public to vote on the winner. First prize is the NPC facial mapping, and each of the nine runners-up will get their names in the game.
