On this day, the day of the game's release, Rockstar Games has given what should be the final trailer for GTA: Chinatown Wars for the PSP. Once again we're presented with a look at how the game will play (more footage than usual), and once again, the developer has opted to superimpose the video onto the screen of a PSPgo, meaning that approximately 40% of the screen is filled with something other than gameplay footage.

See for yourself:

Sure the game looks really good, and there is enough different from the DS version to warrant highlighting the changes, but here we go again with being forced to watch a video on as small a screen as possible. I still cannot get my mind around why companies feel compelled to show us PSP games running on a PSP. With the DS this makes sense, since it's currently the only console (home or handheld) that utilizes dual-screen technology. But for the PSP, there's no reason why the entire video player can't be taken up with the game footage. It must just be that developers are afraid that consumers will assume they're seeing a home console game, and would therefore be leery of the scaled-down look.

All things considered, this footage does look pretty awesome. Anyone out there planning to pick this up?
