Harmonix Job Listing Hints at New Rock Band

At Least It Isn't a Layoff Story

by Sean

A classified ad placed by Harmonix today seems to hint towards the music game developer getting started on a new project, potentially another Rock Band. With The Beatles: Rock Band approaching gold-status, the timing seems just about right to get a new IP under way. Specifically, the job listing seeks "an experienced Senior Producer for a large, internally-developed project", and further that the applicant must possess "a passion for Harmonix’s genre-changing style of music and rhythm games".

Bear in mind, just because you managed the day shift at the local Dairy Queen for a summer doesn't necessarily qualify you for this position. No, Harmonix is definitely looking for someone with industry experience, including "4+ years experience in the production of AAA console, PC, or online titles" and a "[m]inimum of 3 shipped titles".

So maybe I'm not entirely qualified for the job, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it look like Harmonix is getting ready to start on a new music game project. Although a Rock Band sequel seems the most likely, I'd like to take this opportunity to do some baseless speculation. I think that the next iteration of music game will be Rock Band: Jam Band. It will ship with sixteen guitars, an array of congos, bongos, and other handheld drums. It will have a limited edition bundle, which will come with patchouli oil, clove cigarettes, and two dozen bandanas.
