Is Bad Company 2 Coming to Mac Next?

Having Taken on IW, Does DICE Have Valve in its Sights Next?

by Sean

Valve made quite a splash with their announcement yesterday that Steam would soon be coming to Mac's OSX. Hot on the heels of that news comes a new story that may have yet another leading shooter coming to Macs. A tweet posted yesterday from DICE's director of communication Karl Magnus Troedsson confirmed that the developer is actively interested in bringing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to Macs. It read:

"We're currently investigating the possibility of making BFBC2 available on Mac"

Not too much ambiguity there, right? It seems pretty clear that the only hurdle left to bringing what many consider to be the premier FPS to Mac would be any kind of internal Mac approval process. A lot of noise has been made about DICE's marketing efforts to push the multiplayer aspects of BBC2 over Activision's Modern Warfare 2, with various camps aligning on the side of one game or another. It's clear to see from this announcement about Mac that DICE feels confident that its game can stand toe to toe against any other current shooter, and is making a concerted effort to get the game in front of as many players as possible. As a Mac fellow myself, I applaud all of these companies finally taking this platform seriously.
