Live at VGXPO (sort of...)
Do the Words "Holding Pattern" Mean Anything to You?
by Sean
Well, this weekend is the big VGXPO in Center City, Philadelphia. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, gamers were set to take over the Philly Convention Center. With the promise of free play on coin-op arcade games, cos-play contests, and a personal appearance by Jack Thompson, Gamervision never really had a choice.
So we made the arrangements, organized the carpools, and set up the press passes. The advance word was that since we are press, we would have access to the conference floor starting at two, while the doors open to the public at three. We even got here at one forty five just to make sure we weren't late.
Well, it turns out late would have been just fine. We received word from the head of the expo's P.R. department that everything would be delayed an hour (at the least). Apparently, one of the show's major vendors (one that has a 1500 square foot booth...) has a flat tire and haven't even started to set up yet.
And so here we sit... in the lobby of a convention center, with a few dozen anticipatory gamers and we wait.
And wait.
And wait.
More news as it comes (if it comes...)

Jack thompson at a game convention? does the word Lynch mob mean eanyhting to you? lol
He is a dead man
i bet jackie boy slashed those tires out of spite.
I presume it's now deemed "cool" in the video game world to insult Jack Thompson, right?
Yeah no joke. I showed up at noon and sat in the hall until 4:45 when they finally let us the hell in. They didn't tell us what the problem was that delayed it, so we all threatened to bum rush the front door and scream "THIS IS SPARTA!!!"
@Author Jerry: Yeah, Mr. Thompson has sort of set himself up to be in the crosshairs (if you'll excuse the expression...) of gamers worldwide.
i was really happy to see the gamer audience remain respectful and upstanding in the presence of jack thompson. was definitely a very interesting panel.
