LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias Officially Announced
With a Teaser Trailer to Boot!
by Sean

One of the best and most critically acclaimed WiiWare games so far has been LostWinds. Its combination of puzzling, platforming, and gorgeous art style speaks to a game experience that most WiiWare games don't get anywhere close to. Today, developer Frontier Games has made it official that there is going to be a sequel, entitled LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias. The game brings back the familiar control scheme, allowing players to use the Wiimote to control Enril the Wind Spirit to aid the game's protagonist, Toku in a quest to save Toku's mother, lift an ancient curse, and thwart the evil Balasar. This time around, players will be able to switch the world between summer and winter, adding a new wrinkle to the gameplay.
David Braben, Chairman and Founder of Frontier Games, had this to say of the upcoming sequel, "LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias will delight both new and returning players. Every aspect has been extended and polished, and the major new gameplay elements dovetail perfectly to give a fantastically rich, fun, innovative experience."
No release date has been given for the game, but chances are if Frontier is already at the announcement/screenshot/teaser trailer point of development, it may be coming pretty soon.
In the meantime, check out the aforementioned trailer:
