Last week I reported on the underwhelming announcement of the soundtrack for the upcoming curse re-definer, Madden '09. Bands like Gym Class Heroes and Izza Kizza did little to excite me, and actually woke up the old man inside of me, telling those damn kids to keep it the hell down. And don't even get me started on Good Fucking Charlotte. And it's not like I can avoid these songs; since I play so much Madden in the run-up to the start of the NFL season, I end up memorizing the first 20 seconds of all of them.

As if to further cement the groove in my head where these songs will be looping, we get news that they will be added to the Rock Band DLC list, which will someday rival the catalog of Paul McCartney. Kotaku is reporting (via Reuters) that EA and MTV games have struck a deal to bring the entire Madden soundtrack to Rock Band over the course of several weeks (two songs- Inside the Fire by Disturbed, and Hammerhead by The Offspring- are already part of the DLC).

From Reuters:

"Under the deal, "Rock Band" will feature music from the "Madden 09" soundtrack in its weekly downloadable songs update, a handful at a time, over several weeks, with each song carrying the "Madden" brand. Additionally, each soundtrack song will be available for sale via iTunes as part of a special "Madden" playlist."

Unless this is planned as free DLC (and there is no indication that it is), I can't see myself getting to psyched up for this news. I mean I'll have a hard enough time listening to the songs as recorded by the artists. I sure as hell don't need to hear them played live! And how the hell can you pull off a Linkin Park song without four more guitars, and at least two more microphones?
