Media Molecule Unveils a Ton of LittleBigPlanet 2 Info

All New PSN Game, Demo Dated, And More

by Sean

When Media Molecule first announced they were working on LittleBigPlanet 2, one of the promises that the devleoper made was that, before the game releases, a whole lot of other LBP content would be made available to fans of the series. Today, in a post on the PlayStation Blog, a more complete breakdown of what exactly that entails has been spelled out.

First of all, there is going to be a whole new adventure for Sackboy available on the PSN entitled Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves. This will be a multiplayer co-op only title, incorporating the Move controllers, on a 10 level dinosaur-themed adventure to destroy the Evil Big Rex. The gameplay will consist of your standard LBP platforming, but with full motion control support. It will allow up to four players at once, with only one needing the Move controller. This will be a stand-alone release, meaning you won't need LBP nor LBP 2 in order to play it (although it will be included on the disc for LBP2 when it releases in January) Prehistoric Moves will be available on December 14th for $5.99, or PlayStation Plus members can download it for free on the 7th.

Also, as promised, Media Molecule will be delivering a demo for LBP2, highlighting the game's story mode. The demo will incorporate a few new previously announced gameplay elements, including the grapple hook and the Sackbots. You'll also be able to test out the new Creatinator, a device that players can use to give Sackboy a nearly infinite supply of new weapons and platforms. The demo will be added to the PlayStation Store on December 21st.

Finally, for those of you who signed up for the beta for the sequel but still haven't gotten in, there is hope that you'll get another chance. Beginning at some point in early December, Media Molecule will send out a new batch of invitations to the beta to PS users of all types (PS Plus, community members, giveaways, etc.).

With exactly two months to go before the new platformer/game creator releases, it's good to see that the developer is living up to their promise of more, more more!
