As you may or may not have known, EA Sports had invited fans to vote on which players should appear on the rosters for the upcoming rebooted NBA Jam. If you wanted to weigh in, but were biding your time, you've now officially waited too long. You may remember that last week, the publisher revealed the players that will represent the Eastern Conference, and today, once again via ESPN, the Western Conference players have also been detailed. As with the East, the West provides a few surprises, not only in who is included, but also who has been left out.

Most teams will be represented by two or three players, with an additional one or two legends, or in the case of teams with a shorter history (or difficult contractual negotiations), a mascot. Nine teams have been given four players, as EA decided that the voting for those teams was too close to call. On the whole, there aren't a whole lot of surprises in the rosters (Dirk Nowitzki will represent the Mavericks, Kobe the Lakers, and so on), there are a few players that more pedestrian NBA fans won't immediately recognize (Jonny Flynn, Chris Kaman, and Russell Westbrook spring to mind). To me, the oddest omissions are on the Oklahoma City Thunder, formerly the Seattle Supersonics, whose Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton seemed like sure-things for legends. I can only speculate that those two players wouldn't agree to the terms.
