New Homefront Campaign Trailer
Ripped from Today's Headlines
by Sean

If you follow the news of the world (and as a citizen of the world, don't you think you should?), you may have heard of Kim Jong-Un. If you haven't, you might be excused, but mostly because he's the secretive, mysterious son of North Korean despot Kim Jong-Il. Not much is known about Jong-Un, but in recent days he has been making increasingly more frequent public appearances, leading many analysts to surmise that he is the heir apparent to the isolated nation.
I only mention any of this to give some context to the new trailer for Homefront, THQ's upcoming shooter based on a scenario in which a united Korean Peninsula, with the help of an annexed Japanese archipelago, has invaded a destabilized United States mainland. Although video games in which the US is the victim of in invasionary force are nothing new, ones that have the kind of pedigree that a writer like John Milius (of Red Dawn and Apocalypse Now fame), are few and far between. In this new trailer, we see some actual stock footage of Jong-Un, along with some impressive looking gameplay footage.
With all of the big games that were announced during this past weekend's VGAs, it may have been easy to forget that there are still a large number of potentially great games that will be out before next holiday season. I'm not saying that Homefront has the kind of potential that a game like, say, Uncharted 3 or Arkham City may have, but that's no reason to sleep on it.
