Nintendo Announces Early 2009 Lineup
Guess What? They're Making More Pokémon Games
by Sean

Nintendo has announced their North American games lineup for the first quarter of 2009. In keeping with what seems to be their corporate motif for 2008, the list lacks anything that will surprise or win over doubters. There are a few highlights, including a brand new DS Pokémon title, this one cleverly named Pokémon Platinum. There are also a pair of Wii games, one a Pikmin and one a Mario Tennis, whose titles are preceded by "New Play Control!", which is really just a fancy way of saying "ports of GameCube games".
Cammie Dunaway, hardcore gamer, snowboarding legend, and Nintendo's VP of sales and marketing said of the lineup, "Our fans expect a diverse selection of entertainment options, and we're eager to deliver exactly that. We're building on the momentum of a strong holiday season by offering new and experienced players an even greater library of game titles in 2009."
Here's the full list with a few dates, and a few more tentative dates. Take a look and see if you agree with Cammy about how "diverse" the list is, or if this is just so much more shovelware:

full list of yawn titles...
can someone help me shovel all this shit?
The hell is this &!@^?
Some titles caught my eye. The others are kinda bleh.
Really? "New Play Control" is the best they could come up with? It sounds like something straight out of the NES era. "Now with new levels!"
And I'm sure that Nintendo's own Personal Trainer: Math will get owned by the better-titled Learn Math. I mean, you can't beat a game that is also a command.
Give me Fire Emblem and Platinum!
only three potentially good titles in that whole bunch. I smell Gamecube 2........
Seriously though, why can't Nintendo keep a console interesting for more than the first two years of it's lifespan? The last completely solid Nintendo console was the SNES.
