Hot on the heels of raining on Tecmo's parade, the ESRB has also tipped the hand of developer Q-Games by listing a rating for the unannounced sequel to PixelJunk Racers, to be named PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap. Like every other game in the PixelJunk series, 2nd Lap will be a PS3 exclusive, and will most likely to be made available through the PlayStation Store, again, following the model of the other games in the franchise. Granted, just about every other PixelJunk game has gotten a sequel, so it's not a huge surprise. But since Q-Games own website hasn't even listed the game yet, I can't imagine that company is too pleased with the revelation.

Unlike the Tecmo rating, this one doesn't give any information about the game's content apart from what you can see in the screengrab above. Chances are the game will include tracks, some racers, and possibly a menu or two. I mean, I'm no PixelJunk expert, but I think these are generally safe assumptions. There's also the possibility that 2nd Lap won't be a full sequel, but just an expansion (a la PixelJunk Monsters Encore), especially since Racers is the lowest rated game in the franchise. We'll have to wait for the official announcement to learn anything more.
