There is a certain sect out there that goes nuts for a pair of DS characters, those being Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton. During a press conference in Tokyo last night, developer Level-5 announced that the two iconic figures would be meeting up in an upcoming 3DS game. The Japanese title for the game is Professor vs. Gyakuten saiban, and it is being developed by Level-5 (creators of Professor Layton) in collaboration with Capcom (who own the rights to Phoenix Wright), with writing duties falling to Wright creator Shu Takumi.

This marks the beginning of a series of joint efforts between Level-5 and Capcom, which the two companies have been alluding to for some time. Level-5 president Akihiro Hino compared the two companies working together to "two TV shows getting together and making a movie".
