PSA: A Pair of Demos Come to XBL

Why? Just Cause G. (P)

by Sean

Who likes free stuff? You like free stuff! This morning, Major Nelson has let the world know that not one, but two free playable demos have come to Xbox Live. The added bonus to these goody freebies is that, in a rare move, both demos are for games that aren't out yet. There are few things better heading into a weekend (well, heading into heading into a weekend) than getting something for nothing.

First up is the demo for Just Cause 2. The demo will put you in the shoes of Rico Rodriguez, who will jump, blast, hijack, and freefall his way across the island of Panau. The official write-up claims that there will be "literally hundreds of weapons, vehicles, and collectibles to discover", but doesn't specify if that's in the finished game or the demo. I'm leaning towards the finished game. Early indications on Just Cause 2 lead me to believe we're in for a "tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight" experience.

If open-world ass-kicking isn't really your cup of tea, perhaps you'd be a bit more interested in motorcycle racing? For you, Capcom has brought out the demo for MotoGP 09/10. You may not known this, but in other parts of the world, those parts that refer to "soccer" as "football", yeah, in a lot of those places, motorcycle racing is kind of a big deal. Just like those regions love their FIFA games, they also go nuts over the MotoGP license. The demo will unlock access to three different bikes, the 125cc, 250cc and GP class with three different game modes - "Championship", "Time Trail" and "Arcade". Sadly this all takes place on one track, the "world famous" Mugello circuit.

There has already been confirmation that the demo for Just Cause 2 will also be made available on PSN and Steam today, and there's a pretty good chance that MotoGP 09/10 will come to the PS3 with tonight's Store Update. So go! Don't spend any money and get some free gaming!

Definitely grabbing Just Cause 2 today. Moto GP, not so much. It's a good series, but I have no biking skills whatsoever.
