Major Nelson has announced today that beginning next Tuesday, the 16th of June at 12:01PST (3:01EST), Xbox Live will be going offline for scheduled maintenance, and as a result, could be inaccessible for up to 24 hours. During this downtime, not only will the LIVE service go down, the "My Xbox" section of Xbox.com will also be unavailable, and the Xbox forums will be read-only (i.e. - you won't be able to post). The rest of Xbox.com will work just fine during this period. All of the coming maintenance is in preparation for many of the new features that were announced during E3, although none will be available when the service goes back up.

There's a chance that the downtime will be less than a full day, and I'm sure you'll all join me in keeping our fingers crossed that it will take as little time as possible. In the meantime, get ready for a lot of single-player missions next Tuesday.
