PSPgo Will Have 16,000 Pieces of Digital Content Available on Launch
You'll Probably Want Ten of Them

Before this week is over, the world will have its first chance to buy Sony's new handheld console, the PSPgo. And regardless of how you feel about the elimination of the UMD format, the fact remains that Sony is banking heavily on people getting their new content digitally. In fact, a Sony rep recently told IGN UK that there is going to be quite a lot of digital content available starting launch day. 16,000 pieces of content, to be exact.
But before you get all excited about the prospect of downloading thousands upon thousands of games onto your PSPgo, you should pay attention to how exactly that 16,000 breaks down. Yes, there are going to be games, a combination of full PSP titles, PSN exclusives, and UMD legacy titles, but they only account for 225 of the new items. There will also be 2,300 films available for purchase. The rest of the day one content will consist of episodes of television shows, which will make up 13,300 parts of the available content.
There is no official word yet as to what television shows, nor what films, you'll be able to get on launch. Chances are, though, it'll be the same content you can now get on your PS3 through the PlayStation Store. But some of the games have been announced, and there are a few worth picking up- namely Gran Turismo, Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny, and God of War: Chains of Olympus. This announcement on Sony's part is reminiscent of when Apple announced that the iPhone's 21,178 games meant that it was a better gaming platform than the DS or PSP. Just because you have more content doesn't make your content superior. Especially when you stop to consider that 74% of Apple's "games" are fart simulators.

Good work, Sony, you've dropped down to Apple's level.
