The era of American history that saw the expansion of the Union across the plains was known as the Wild Wild West for a good reason. The country was essentially a wide open prairie land with little to no police presence, where the only law that counted was whose gun fired first. The only way for a town to survive against the tide of lawless bandits was to deputize citizens, and give them the authority to arrest and imprison criminals. This history lesson helps set the scene for the newest trailer from Rockstar for their upcoming open-world Western Red Dead Redemption. In the video, we meet some of the sherrifs, deputies, and private agents you'll meet as you make your way through the game.

Honestly, every bit of footage I see for this game only gets me more psyched to play it. With GTA IV, Rockstar set the mark for current generation open world games, and coupling the genre with the Old West seems like a natural fit. Plus, you've got to love a cop who tells you that your wife sends her regards. That's just old school, Old West ballsy shit-talking. Red Dead Redemption is set to come out at the end of April, but Gamervision will be checking out the game in the near future, so check back for our impressions.
