For those of you out there who crave your fix of Spartan warfare, but for whom the high-brow dialogue found in your average Halo 3 multiplayer room may have gotten a little old, there's good news this morning. As promised during Robbie Bach's CES keynote speech, today marks the debut of the demo for the upcoming real-time strategy release Halo Wars.

Although RTS isn't my game genre of choice, I plan to download this demo anyway. First of all, it's a Halo title, so at the very least it's worth checking out. Secondly, it's the last game to be publised from Ensemble Studios (of Age of Empires fame), so it certainly has a strong pedigree. But most of all, it's free, so what do I have to lose in trying it out?

Halo Wars hits store shelves for the 360 on February 28.
