The dust is still settling this morning from the news that Harmonix has confirmed that the DLC for The Beatles: Rock Band will not be compatible with any of the other existing Rock Band games. This means that if you've already shelled out the money for Rock Band, and don't mind paying for the extra songs, you still won't be able to buy Abbey Road. You're going to be forced to buy the new release, and then pay again to download the album.

As Sarah pointed out earlier, The Beatles: Rock Band will only be shipping with 45 songs, so DLC for the game is almost mandatory. But to lock out existing gamers from being able to get the hot content seems like someone is shooting himself in the foot. I know it probably has something to do with complicated licensing and legalese, but it still sucks.
