Resident Evil 5 Gets New Multiplayer Mode
UPDATED: Price Correction
by Sean
Not content to only announce ports of existing games, Capcom has sent out another press release this morning announcing that Resident Evil 5, which hits stores tomorrow, will be adding another multiplayer mode called "Versus". This mode will pit players against one another in a game of survival, and as you can see in the screens above and below, it will support up to four players.
The catch on this one is that the new mode will not be a patch for the game when it comes out, but rather a paid DLC pack. Xbox 360 owners can expect to shell out a solid 400
and PlayStation 3 gamers will have to pony up $3.99 to get their hands on "Versus". If you do the math (and I did), you'll notice that the PS3 version of this DLC will be a full dollar and one penny cheaper. No word as to why that is, but it's nice to see PS3 owners get a break, for once.
Here's a few more screens to whet your appetitie (click them! they grow!). Anyone going to shell out the money?
UPDATE: I just got an e-mail from Capcom informing me that the pricing for the PS3 will in fact be $4.99, not $3.99 as previously reported. So PS3 owners will only be saving a penny.

Cool. Not sure which one I'll pickup. Any differences between the two? I'll get the DLC if some of my friends do.
$1.01 isn't really a deal breaker, but I haven't decided on a platform yet.
even if i picked up the game, i doubt i would pay for this. The versus idea just does not sound very good to me with the current RE5 controls. So you both see each other, you stand perfectly still, and you shoot at each other. You would move, maybe strafe, but you cannot.
also, this should be part of the release, why charge us for this?
I'm wondering if that's JV in the screen shots. Did I miss something ?
please people dont buy this, we don't want these companies to think its ok to hold back features that are ready at launch just so they can make them DLC and make money off them. I mean i know its only 5 bucks but this is something that should have been included in the game. Whats next, a game comes out with only SP and a week later releases the MP portion but wants you to pay 5 bucks? Oh wait, thats what Capcom just did...
heard this game wasn't very good. Now, that doesn't mean i want fanboys on my ass but the controls are really choppy and the partner AI is dumb as shit. I just have to say that i wouldn't have bought this piece of shit game even if it did get decent reviews. (although reviews have been mixed) Now to top it off, you have to pay for a mode that should have been shipped with the game.
