We here at Gamervision have never made a secret of the fact that we like the Guitar Hero franchise. No, that's not accurate. We love it. We've rocked intimate gatherings, we've hooked up bigger venues, and we've kicked it old school. There is no doubt that Activision has won our hearts and eternal souls with these titles. But being gamers, there is always room in our hearts for more. Harmonix, the developer behind Guitar Hero, has teaming up with Electronic Arts to bring forth the next stage in rock and roll gaming: Rock Band. Generally speaking, the gameplay is similar to GH; you play songs and attempt to hit notes on rhythm. The big difference is that instead of just playing lead guitar, you play as an entire band (a rock band, as it were...) Guitar is joined by bass, drums and vocals, ushering in a new era of social gaming. We've seen some footage of the game in action, which definitely had us wowed, and the guitar for this game looks appropriately awesome. Over the weekend, Ars Technica got some more details on Rock Band from their "mole" inside. First is the price; the rumor (all but confirmed) is that Rock Band will retail for $199.99, which will include the game, one guitar, drum kit and microphone. The story is that it all comes in a rather sizable package (20 pounds!) but that the box art is not finished yet. Coupled with the price announcement is word that the PlayStation 3 version will come with a wireless guitar, while the 360 version will only have a wired guitar. Having already dropped a whole lot of money on games, peripherals, and costumes, we over at Gamervision are getting a little burned out on the premium Harmonix is putting on their products, but chances are, when this game is out, we'll get our hands on it. And we will rock. Source
