RockStar Porting Chinatown Wars to the iPad

HD Handheld Port Coming Next Week

by Sean

So maybe you've been thinking to yourself, "You know, I've always wanted to play Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, but all of the platforms that it's available for aren't high definition enough!". Apart from having a weird thought process, you're actually quite right. Although many have praised the game's clevel level design and intuitive gameplay, the fact that it's only been available for smaller screened consoles (DS, PSP, and iPhone/iPod Touch) has limited its sales when compared to Rockstar's other releases. As if reading your mind, the developer today announced that Chinatown Wars will be coming to the iPad beginning next week.

The new port will boast updated HD graphics, as well as more than 50 missions, a slew of side quests, and the ability to customize the game's soundtrack using your own music through iTunes. Of course, the game will be set in Liberty City, and will keep the same elements that originally made Chinatown Wars a hit. Granted, one of the major complaints of iPad games ported from the iPhone is that the controls are often wonky, but if anyone can address that it's Rockstar.

GTA: Chinatown Wars for the iPad hits the App Store beginning September 9th for $9.99.
