Section 8 Coming to PlayStation 3
Probably No Pre-Order Bonus for This One
by Sean

Section 8 came out for the Xbox 360 and PC in September of last year to a small amount of fanfare, but generally positive reviews. The shooter was viewed by the few to have played it to be an adequate entry in the genre, with a robust multiplayer engine that impressed many gamers and will almost certainly be used in future games. Unfortunately for SouthPeak, the game's developer, it also released during what could be described as AAA season, with Batman: Arkham Asylum, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Modern Warfare 2 stealing almost all of the retail thunder. Since its release, there have been rumors and conjecture as to whether or not the PS3 would ever get a port of the game, and today Joystiq is reporting that Sony's console will be getting the game this spring.
The interesting thing to note about Section 8 coming to PS3 is that the only way you'll be able to purchase it is through the PSN. SouthPeak has made the unusual decision to only sell the game to PS3 owners via digital distribution, so there will be no disc. Additionally, the PS3 version will come with three extra maps that are paid DLC for 360 and PC owners. There will also be the option for players to host games on their PCs, which was available on the 360's version as well. It would be nice if there was support added to allow both PS3 and 360 in the same matches, but it would also be nice if someone just handed me a winning lottery ticket and a pile of gold. Is anyone interested in getting this when it's available, or did SouthPeak wait too long?

I was hoping this game was going to make it BEFORE it made its way to the PS3. We had it on clearance at my Target location and I think there's still a copy or two left. Sad.
Sadly, this one's not particularly interesting no matter what platform it's on.
Awe, man!
