Sony and Microsoft are "In Talks" to Bring Blu-Ray to the 360

From the "Better Late than Never" Dept.

Right after the inevitable demise of the HD-DVD format at the hands of Blu-Ray, the rumor mill started in earnest that Microsoft would eventually be bringing Blu-Ray capabilities to the Xbox 360. Today it would appear that those rumors were well founded.

According to the Financial Times (via Engadget), Sony Electronics US President Stan Glasgow said, "Sony is in talks with console rival Microsoft about offering a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360."

Seems pretty cut and dry to me. Glasgow went on to say in the same statement that Sony was also in talks with Apple, who also have not yet brought Blu-Ray to any of their machines.

No official word on release dates, prices, or anything that would fall under the heading of "details". But rest assured we will have more information when it becomes available.

I still don't see the point of this new format. I personally really don't need my D to be any H-er.
