Sony Makes PS3 Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Official
Rumors Some Time Come True
by Sean
Earlier this week, a few different sources leaked out images and hints that Sony was getting ready to give the classics Ico and Shadow of the Colossus the Blu-ray treatment, similar to what was done with the first two God of War games. As recently as Tuesday, the publisher claimed that there was no comment, and that the company line is to not issue statements on unconfirmed rumors. Well, I guess the time for a comment has come! Fresh out of the Tokyo Game Show (via the PlayStation Blog), the publisher has made it official that both PS2 games will be coming to PS3 on one Blu-ray disc entitled Ico and Shadow of the Colossus: The Collection. It will not only bring full HD compatibility and trophy support, it will also support 3D graphics, for those of you out there lucky enough to own 3D televisions.
Other than making the game's release offiical, no real details have been provided about The Collection. So as of now, we don't have a release date or window, nor price point. Chances are it will fall in line with what the God of War Collection sold for, which would peg it right around forty dollars. Still, for those out there who have never had a chance to play these epochal titles (myself included), it's good to see that Sony is dedicated to keeping them relevant.

I don't have a 3D television. I wasn't planing on buying a 3D television. But knowing that I have the opportunity to play Shadow of the Colossus in 3D has kind of changed my entire worldview...
This is why sometimes missing out on a classic is a great thing. Now I get both awesome games for half their original prices, and double the awesome graphics. Suck it, early adopters!
