TimeGate Studios Announces a Section 8 Sequel
Prejudice to Hit Digital Download Early Next Year
by Sean
You'd be forgiven if you don't remember Section 8. In spite of a pretty good amount of hype in the lead-up to its release, and fairly innovative gameplay, TimeGate's FPS failed to get fantastic reviews, and also didn't attract the kind of following that would cause a developer to invest time and money in a sequel. However, a press release sent out today from TimeGate has made it official that Section 8 will be getting a sequel, entitled Section 8: Prejudice.
In order to save themselves some money, TimeGate has opted to make Prejudice a downloadable game, meaning that there will be no need to invest in discs, manuals, or any real printing costs at all. The new edition will cost $14.99 (1200
), and will include both a single-player campaign (clocking in at around 5 hours) and a multi-player mode with support for up to 32 players. Additionally, it will include a new 4-player co-op game mode entitled Swarm.
"We’re challenging the notion of just how much quality and value we can pack into a digital download first-person shooter," said Adel Chaveleh, CEO of TimeGate Studios. "Our target is very simply to be the highest quality, best value digital FPS on the market. Prejudice is a full-retail-scoped product, so I’m sure our fans will be very happy with our price-point decision."
As you can see above, TimeGate did take the time to put together a trailer for the game, and if you look below, you'll see some screenshots for it as well. No release date has been given yet, but it should be available at some point during the first quarter of 2011.
