Tom Clancy EndWar to Have Motion Controls for PS3
Integration of the PlayStation Eye Like Never Before
by Sean
I've never made a secret of the fact that I am a borderline fanboy for the Tom Clancy series of games. From Rainbow Six on my Dreamcast right up to Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 for my 360 (kind of full circle, if you think about it...) I have been blown away by just about all of the names that have borne that franchise's tag.
Since the announcement of EndWar, Clancy's first foray into the RTS genre, I have found myself eagerly excited for this one, in spite of my own general aversion to the genre. And the video of gameplay got me even more pumped. No, not because of the Frag Dolls, who annoy me more than mosquitos. It was the use of the headset for squad control. I love when games take chances and risks with new control schemes.
Well, according to Scott Jon Siegel over at Joystiq, the PS3 version of EndWar plans to take the squad control a step further. It seems that, using the PlayStation Eye camera, players will be able to navigate the game's overhead map. Apparently the 360 won't be getting this feature due to its camera's lack of a vertical stand.
Now, Siegel does go on to point out that these kinds of innovations have been promised before, only to not show up (Boom Blox, anyone?) But still, if it does stay true, I may have a new must have for my PS3. Move aside, LittleBigPlanet.

Ooh a reason to buy the camera. Maybe.
Wait, the 360 version won't have it because of the lack of a stand? Really?
