Tony Hawk Ride Will Get a Sequel
Who Could Have Predicted This One?
by Sean

Although Tony Hawk Ride is still several months away from shipping, the creator of the game's skateboard peripheral has already confirmed that it will be getting a sequel. In an interview with IndustryGamers, Robomodo president Josh Tsui let the world know what anyone who knows Activision's love for exploiting franchises already knew, namely that Ride was never meant to stand alone.
When asked what else Tsui was working on at Robomodo, he responded with the following:
"Obviously, we're very focused on getting this done, but being the creative types that we are, we're always writing up new game proposals and things we want to do. It's just a matter of timing. With Tony Hawk: Ride finishing up [we have to think about] the sequel to the game and where that fits into our schedules. It's a lot of juggling at this point."
It's nice to know that a game that is shipping with a peripheral that drives the retail price point to over $100. Although since reviews and public reaction for the first game are still at least a quarter away, this could end up being a case of putting the cart before the horse. I mean, chances are Tony Hawk Ride will sell through the roof, regardless of whether or not it's any good, but I wonder if Activision may be getting a little ahead of themselves. Let's not forget that once upon a time it seemed as though a shard of glass with the Tony Hawk label on it would sell ten million copies for Activision, but that was in a world before EA's Skate franchise. Only time will tell.

So it's official: I won't be buying either. What can I say? I like money.
yay?
eh, meh.
Good call, Activision. The public never gets tired of Tony Hawk.
Oh, except for when they already did and you had to stop putting it out for a year.
Probably just a fluke, right?
