Trials HD Reaches 300K Sales Milestone
That's a Lot of Broken Bones

One of the break-out games from the mega-successful Xbox's Summer of Arcade promotion was the motorcycle-puzzle-platformer Trials HD. Its quick gameplay, realistic physics engine, and addictive leaderboard battles gave us all a nice way to fill the gaps between major game releases. Today, developer RedLynx has announced that Trials HD has passed the 300,000 games sold milestone. With so much positive word of mouth and a 1200
($15) price point, this achievement was really all but inevitable.
In the press release, RedLynx CEO Tero Virtala seemed genuinely humbled by the game's success, saying, "It’s a remarkable and proud moment for us to have Trials HD as one of the highest ranked games among Xbox Live Arcade users, and one of the best-selling Xbox Live Arcade games this year. Xbox Live Arcade definitely provides an excellent platform for high-quality games like Trials HD at very affordable price point. We’re a smaller, 25-person multiplatform studio, and for us this is an excellent example of how digital download space opens up significant opportunities that might not otherwise be available for creative and talented smaller teams."
It's nice to be able to write these kinds of stories, where a little studio has the chance to pound its proverbial chest and thumb its metaphorical nose at the big dogs. These stories definitely go over bigger than the "Wii Game X's Sales Numbers Disappoint" ones. The only thing that could make this news better would be if RedLynx had followed up this announcement with "And now we're hard at work on the sequel!". But alas, I'll take what I can get.
