The number of bands and artists that are becoming translated into digital form for rhythm games seems to get bigger by the day. Iggy Pop, The Beatles, David Bowie, and Kurt Cobain are just a few of the big names that have made the leap from the real world to the console. And with rumors flying about other bands showing possible interest in becoming playable avatars, one has to wonder if and when it's going to end. In a recent interview with USA Today, U2 bassist Adam Clayton made it known that his band would love the opportunity to become immortalized in a game.

Apparently there had been conversations last year between the band and Activision about possibly bringing U2 to Guitar Hero, but the talks stalled after a dispute about likenesses. However, after seeing what Harmonix was able to achieve with The Beatles: Rock Band, U2 rethought their position.

Here's Clayton speaking to USA Today, "We definitely would like to be in there, but we felt some of the compromises weren't what we wanted. That could change. I love the idea that that's where people are getting music, and we'd love to be in that world. We'll figure something out. What The Beatles have done, where the animation is much more representative of them, is what we're interested in, rather than the one-size-fits-all animation. We didn't want to be caricatured."

There is very little doubt that if U2 were to have their own Rock Band/Guitar Hero game that it would be a huge seller. This is a band whose every album goes platinum seemingly before release and whose every concert sells out as soon as it's announced. The world loves U2, just as sure as the world loves rhythm games.
