UK Site Lists New Wii Bundle

Does This Mean No UK Price Cut?

by Sean

Look everyone, the Wii is getting a price cut. Although Nintendo hasn't admitted it yet, there have been enough leaked box store circulars pointing to a new $199 price point to carpet the inside of the new Cowboys stadium. The fact that the announcement is coming on Friday is officially the worst kept secret since the PSPGo. But according to a handful of European game retailers, the price cut may not happen in Great Britain. Instead, it looks like the Brits will be getting a new bundle.

A listing on Shopto.net (which now says is now longer orderable) shows off a never-before seen Wii package, which will ship with the console, a Wii MotionPlus peripheral, a nunchuck, and both original Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort.

Interestingly, the recent price story of the Wii in the UK was that Nintendo actually upped the price, blaming depriciation of the British pound. GI.biz asked Nintendo about the new bundle, and of course got the standard response that "no announcement has been made" and anyone talking about it is engaging in "rumour and speculation", which I find interesting, because I've always spelled it "rumor". Check back on Friday when Nintendo officially announces what we all already know from TGS.
