Were You Trying to Find Some Killzone 3 Multiplayer Footage?

Well Sir (or Ma'am), You're in Luck

Yesterday Sony blew the proverbial lid off of the proverbial joint in Cologne, Germany by announcing a host of games, and giving sneak peeks at a few other already announced title. Falling into that latter category is the above trailer for the third installment in Guerrilla Games' signature shooter series, Killzone 3. Apart from being the first game in the franchise to incorporate 3D technology, it also will be the first PS3 version of the game to utilize the jet-packs introduced in the PSP release Killzone: Liberation. Sadly, the 3D aspects of the game can't be shown off in this particular trailer, however if you look closely at the end, you'll see the jet-pack blast off.

Admittedly, I've only really dabbled in the world of Helghast versus human, but I have to say that the time I've spent playing both Killzone and Killzone 2 were definitely enjoyable. It's one of those game franchises that doesn't do anything revolutionary or ground-breaking, but the things that it tries to accomplish are good enough. I guess the word I'm looking for is "serviceable". Although I suppose that adding 3D technology to a game is more of an upgrade than most shooters get from a sequel, so maybe Killzone 3 could forge some new paths for the genre. Now if people would just buy 3D televisions . . .

Biggest issue with me was shooting controls. I played a lot of MW2 before playing Killzone 2 and the system to go into an aiming mode was frustrating to say the least. Even making the controls more normal in options didn't feel right.
