What Are You Playing This Week? 08.09.10
Do You Really Need to Ask?
by Sean

This week sees the release of the only game in town for pro football fans, EA Sports' Madden NFL 11. I've had a chance to play a handful of games so far, both with the demo and with the review copy that came into the office, and I have to say, once again I'll be out the full price of the game on day one. I mean, even if the game was little more than last year's version with updated rosters, I'd still probably be getting it. The fact is that EA has brought more to the table this time around, the most obvious addition being the GameFlow play calling system, which for a guy like me who is better at calling offensive than defensive plays, is likely to result in a higher win percentage. Normally I would be lining up tonight to get the game at midnight along with all of the other fanboys, playing half a season before bedtime. With a seven month old baby at home, I have to pace myself, but I can pretty much assure you of where I'll be during my lunch break tomorrow.
Apart from that, my gaming will consist of a collection of handheld time wasters. I've been working on Puzzle Quest 2, which is a return to greatness for the series after the abomination of Galactrix. I'll also be playing some of the highly addictive crack cocaine that is Angry Birds on my iPhone. Who would have thought that a ninety nine cent game would provide so many hours of mindless fun? I'm working on earning three stars on every level, which should take me just short of forever. I'm also down for some Words With Friends, although I feel like they could change the name of the game to Words With Jerks Who Don't Take Their Turns. I mean seriously Paul, it's been 17 days. Just play a word already!
Really though, anything after Madden is an afterthought this week. How about you, you playing anything other than football this week?
