Wii Sports Resort Sells 600,000 Copies in Europe
Breaking: Nintendo Prints Euros
by Sean

On Wednesday Nintendo revealed that their newest bundle of outdoor activities, Wii Sports Resort, sold half a million copies in the US during the first week of availability. I guess it takes a few extra days for news to make it across the Atlantic, because it took until today for the sales figures for the European market to come out. According to GI.biz, Nintendo has confirmed that European sales of Resort have hit 600,000 copies since the game's release. It has been at the top of the UK all-formats sales chart for two straight weeks, and its first week sales made it the fourth best-selling Wii title to date in that market.
While no one can be surprised anymore that Nintendo's games are huge sellers, it's a bit staggering to see the sales figures roll in. Think about it: in just over two weeks, Wii Sports Resort sold well over a million copies, and that's not even accounting for the Japanese market. By way of comparison, if you were to combine the total to-date sales figures of MadWorld and The Conduit, two other well-reviewed Wii games, you wouldn't even get to half of the two week American sales number for Resort. So much for core gamers I guess...
