Wireless Nunchuck for the Wii

Next on the Wii To-Do List: Games

by Sean

In the long list of things I want for my Wii, nowhere does the term "wireless nunchuck" appear. Let me just double check that:

Sean's Top Eight Wii Wish List

1. Better on-line support

2. An end to "Friend Codes"

3. One Legend of Zelda title per year

4. Goldeneye 007 on the Virtual Console

5. DVD Support

6. Games an adult doesn't have to be embarrassed to own

7. A full golf game built from the Wii Sports engine

8. A full bowling game built from the Wii Sports engine

Yeah, just like I thought: no wireless nunchuck on there at all.

But no one seems to read my lists, because the team over at Nyko have brought the world the wireless nunchuck controller for the Wii. Take a gander:

Users will get their first chance to try this baby out next month at CES. Again, not to flog a dead horse, this was never an idea that was on my radar. Could it work? Sure. Will the system fail without it? Please!

With how terrible Nyko accessories are I'm glad they are sticking to making second rate controllers and not being put in charge of making Zelda games.

I'd buy one. If I had a Wii. If I liked the Wii.

You're forgetting about support for HDTV, that should be number 3 on the list. My Wii looks sooooooo bad on my television.

but if it goes wireless....then how will I strangle my boyfriend when he's beating me at Wii-Play?

i agree with jozzy. even with the nintendo brand component cables, the wii looks laughable on any decently sized HDTV. perhaps that's why it's still the most expensive paperweight that i have ever purchased.

    but really, the point is:
the wii has had far too many" get out of jail free" cards. for example:

there is sub-par online support, no real scaling options for HDTV, less than a handful of decent games (especially for post-pubescent players), no decent third party support, no ability to play outside media, no first party rechargeable batteries, not enough units to meet the demand, no hard drive...

these shortcomings would typically amount to the kiss of death for any other system. i mean, the ps3 has been chastised for a multitude of rather nit-picky reasons (some of which are prudent), but yet it seems that nintendo can do no wrong, regardless of the fact that there are plenty of areas where the system needs improvement.

consider this: the xbox360 arcade starts at approximately $280 out of the box. the wii costs roughly $250 out of the box. anyone else see the gaping chasm of disparity here?
