Wolfenstein Demo Comes to 360
Add in a System Update, and It's a Freebie Twofer
by Sean

All you wannabe Inglourious Basterds and amateur Nazi hunters can get your kill on today as Activision brings a playable demo of Wolfenstein to the Xbox 360. Although the reboot of the classic FPS has been getting less than stellar reviews, for fans of the genre (or of nostalgia) getting a taste for free may be too good a deal to pass up. Plus, it's less than 600MB, so it's not like you need a ton of hard drive space to get it. There's no word in the official announcement about what exact gameplay the demo is made up of, but it's likely the first level.
You should also know that before you download the demo (or do anything else on XBL) you'll have to download a mandatory system update. Major Nelson says that the update doesn't add any new functionality today, but is part of Microsoft's ramp-up to launching the new Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm areas of Live. I just downloaded it myself, and it only takes about a minute to download and install, and doesn't appear to have broken anything, so go for it!
There's no word on when PS3 owners will get the Wolfenstein demo, but the trend recently has been that the PS3 gets demos about two weeks after the 360. Keep your eyes on the Thursday PlayStation Store updates to be sure.
