New GH3 DLC, Better Than Before
2 packs of songs are available for GH3 for $6.25, but are they worth it.

Many of us were disappointed with the pricing of the DLC for Guitar Hero 2 on XBox 360. With Guitar Hero 3 being announced to have a lot of DLC in the works, the question was how it would be sold. In Guitar Hero 2, most of the DLC was crap. Either you bought a My Chemical Romance bundle or you got three songs from three different bands and two of those songs were usually crap. They did have an "indie" label pack. You'd think it would be cheaper, you would be wrong. And then there were a bunch of random foreign songs.
The first two packs of DLC for GH3 are definitely an improvement. Sure, you're paying twice the price of iTunes, but there is QA and design involved in these, not just the songs. The biggest improvement is in the quality of the songs and the cogency of the packs. You have your Foo Fighters pack and your Velvet Revolver pack. So right there is an improvement, all songs by the same band. If you like the Foo Fighters, you'll love the pack.
I've only purchased the Foo Fighters pack because I don't really like Velvet Revolver that much. I am, however, a die hard Foo Fighters fan. The pack is awesome for fans and I'd assume that the Velvet Revolver pack is similar for their fans. The Foo Fighters pack does a great job of covering three of the best songs from the band through out their history. You've got the big radio single that is currently getting aired, Pretender; one of the classics from their first studio album, This Is A Call; and a track from their arguably best album, The Colour And The Shape, All My Life.
To add to the awesome, these songs have a great difficulty rating. They aren't Raining Blood, but they also aren't Poison. If put into the career, they'd likely fall in the 5th or 6th tier.
In the end, people may be a bit angry with the pricing, but they need to focus on the upside. No more packs that contain The Ramones, Deep Purple, and Judas Priest. That was a real pack for 360 and I don't think you can really like all of those bands simulataneously. So, thanks for listening to some of our griped Neversoft.

I still am holding out on buying GHIII because I'm so pissed off that I have to buy the full bundle with guitar instead of just being able to buy the game. Yeah, I know that its a redesigned axe in the new bundle, but still, I just dropped $100 on GHII last year. Let me enjoy my old guitar a little longer!
I've just been informed that I can buy GHIII without the guitar.
I retract my earlier unnecessary ire.
Yeah, I play on PS3, so I didn't mind. Though I am actually tyring to find the guitar without the game so me and my roommate can hit up co-op.
I saw they were selling the game alone with no controller at walmart.
