Life In A Day, A Mass Experimental Documentary
Ridley Scott And Kevin MacDonald Want Your Life!

I think I've finally concluded that my life is not the televised show I used to think it was after seeing The Truman Show and there is no final standing wall on the sound stage of life. I'm not disappointed. Just relieved. Embarrassing things tend to happen to me and if I can't be grateful for being alone when they many times do, I don't know what else to be grateful for. But despite the lack of interest from television to give us normal folk our own channel, this Saturday, July 24th, everyone in the world has been invited to participate in a massive cinematic experiment called Life In A Day. The rules are simple. Film your life. Answer three questions. Empty your pockets. Upload onto YouTube.
Welcome to Sundance, everyone.
That was kind of vague. Allow me to elaborate. Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner) and Kev MacDonald (Last King of Scotland) are pairing up with YouTube and the YouTube Community to create an experimental documentary about "life" using the found footage that the community is to upload to the Life In A Day YouTube profile of their own lives in the day of July 24th, 2010. The final edit/feature film will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2011. All contributors whose footage is chosen will be given a "co-director" credit and a final lucky 20 contributors will be invited along for the festivities. The final film will also be uploaded to YouTube for the rest of the world's viewing pleasure.
The rules in the end really are that simple. Film your life! Don't be burdened by any language barriers (translating is a simple deal) and avoid anything trademarked and music. And don't forget to answer MacDonald's three questions before emptying your pockets:
- What do you love?
- What do you fear?
- What makes you laugh?
Most importantly, be honest. Be you. Go live.
For more information, check out Life In A Day for guidelines and some wise words of advice. So, who's all participating?
