Over the course of the past 28 years, Tron has evolved into Tron Legacy and damn does it look smooth. Naturally, fans have followed suit in the evolution process, trading in their carefully hand painted body suits for some serious skills that are starting to make me wonder why they weren't working on the actual film to begin with. There are no unnecessarily visible male groins here, just some kick ass fan films.

Tron Homage: Disk Battle

Further proving that it only takes 30 seconds to impress me, this animated short simply oozes with such professionalism and style, I kind of struggled with posting this video first. Obviously this very talented team is a hard act to follow. I truly hope they make some more shorts, though considering the length of this one, I'm guessing it takes quite a bit of time. But hey, we've still got months until Tron Legacy. I can wait.

Tron Tribute Video by Garrick Campsey

Mmmmm, light cycles... Oh, I'm sorry. Were you expecting me to say anything else? I got kind of distracted by all the pretty lights. Anyway, this Tron tribute was completed in 45 days by Garrick Campsey, including the models, animation, layout, sounds, etc. Not bad for one man, especially when you consider the skills (or lack thereof) of someone like me. By the way, I drew a light cycle for you.

It started looking a little too much like Human Centipede, so I made him an astronaut... I think I rest my case.

In other bizarre displays of fandom, which is probably more in favor of Apple products anyway, the people at Mongoose Studios released this video of a little project they've been working on, syncing up 12 iPods as a video display to be controlled by a 13th iPod Touch. And of course, they used the Tron Legacy teaser. Duh.

Can we try this on an iPad? Better yet, can I just watch the movie already? Please, Disney?
