5th Cell Reveals Next Project: Hybrid
"Pioneering" First-Person-Shooter for XBLA

The countdown page on the website of 5th Cell, the developers of the Scribblenauts series, has finished doing its whole “Counting down” thing, and has revealed the company’s next project. Hybrid, a first-person shooter will come to the Xbox Live Arcade next year.
Described as a “pioneering third person shooter set in a devastated post apocalyptic world,” Hybrid promises to give “players a completely new gameplay experience never seen before in the genre.” Based on the very brief trailer found at WhatIsHybrid.com, that new gameplay experience will likely have to do with wall-running, and possibly ceiling-running. The Source Engine-powered title will also give players the choice to play as either the Paladins or the Variants, hated enemies with what appear to be differing abilities.
The game just got announced, so it’s a bit early to speculate, but the idea of wall-running in an fps is interesting, but certainly not “pioneering.” This is 5th Cell, however, and every game they’ve ever done has included some sort of entertaining twist on an established genre, so we have no reason to believe that Hybrid will be any different.
