"Morrowind 2011" Pretties Up Elder Scrolls III

Once Someone Decides to Host It

by Veggie Jackson

The recent announcement that Skyrim, the fifth entry in the main Elder Scrolls series, is expected for a 2012 release has fans practically drooling in excitement.  What better time, then, to release an awesome mod for one of its predecessors, Morrowind?  Warwon, a well-known modder in the ES community, has put together a set of mods, entitled “Morrowind 2011,” that bump the game’s visuals up from “God-Awful” to “God-DAMN!”

Morrowind 2011” is remarkable, as the video shows, transforming one of the most notoriously ugly games of the last generation into a thoroughly modern looking RPG.  Sure, the character model is still a bit on the frumpy side, but the improvement to the environments are staggering.

Sadly, Warwon is still looking for someone to host the 4GB mod compendium, so we may have to wait a while before we get to play this pretty, new version of one of the deepest RPGs ever produced.

In the meantime, maybe Warwon could start work on modernizing Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall.  With 15,000 towns, 750,000 NPCs, and 320,000 square miles of explorable terrain, it shouldn’t take more than a few lifetimes.
