Alone In The Dark Video Shows Innovative Gameplay
Sticky Tape Is Cruel, Also Awesome
It seems like an eternity ago that we first heard word of a modern Alone in the Dark game, and for the longest time, we got no further info. Then, a few weeks ago, we got a tech demo that showed some impressive visuals, a cool inventory system, and little else. Yesterday, though, Atari and Eden Studios released a video showing some of the more innovative and intriguing gameplay mechanics at work in the game. I gotta say, it looks pretty damn cool. Check it out:
Ya gotta love that inventory jacket, and the seemingly limitless combinations of items could make this a real challenger for survival-horror supremacy. There’s some interesting physics and lighting mechanics at work as well, making for a pretty dense tech demo. Makes you wonder what kind of craziness to expect in the upcoming demo trailers. I wish we’d gotten a better look at the enemies (which look a whole lot like the head crabs from Half-Life), but so far, everything looks like it’s progressing nicely, and might even be able to meet its expected July 15 street date. I’ll sticky tape a note on the calendar for that day, and hope it somehow explodes. That would be cool.

That's one of the most realistic sewers I've ever laid eyes on.
Awesome, looks like some really cool concepts here. I used to love playing the original alone in the dark. It was a good game, and this is shaping up to be great.
