Antispore.com: What Is It?
Religious Zealotry Or a Simple Hoax?
There’s nothing surprising about a video game causing a stir among religious groups. What is surprising is that the game causing such a fuss is Spore. Not a bloody first person shooter or a sexually explicit Japanese import, but a harmless life-sim. Why are people all up in arms about one of the most charming, endearing, adorable games we’ve seen in years? Well, apparently, designing your own creatures and having them evolve to adapt to their environment goes against the theory of Creationism. That’s the position taken by the not-so-subtly-named Antispore.com, anyway. The WordPress site, which went up the same day as the game’s launch, is filled with posts decrying the sinful nature of Will Wright’s newest creation. There’s even one post that comes out and specifically calls Will Wright “evil,” and blasts him for belonging to a church that allows homosexual clergymen. The curator of the site also has a major problem with the fact that the game allows people to create creatures with oversized genitals, or even creatures that look like two people having sex.
While reading over the decidedly entertaining posts and comments, it occurred to me that something may not be on the up-and-up. Is it possible that the whole thing is a hoax? While the arguments made by the author seem to sync with fundamentalist Christian beliefs, the tone of the whole thing seems almost too righteous and “holier than thou” to be real. There’s also the fact that on many pages on the site, the first Google ad on the right side of the page is actually for Spore! As much as I hate to send traffic to what is potentially a scathing, nonsensical game-hate page, I would love to hear what you guys think. Is it real or not?
And if it is real, here’s a note to the author; if making goofy creatures in a PC game is enough to threaten your faith in a higher power and even your entire concept of reality, maybe your faith is not as strong as you like to purport. Oh, and if it’s fake; I don’t get it.

An equally valid argument could be made (and was when Will Wright was asked whether the game endorsed evolution) that, by placing the player in the role of God, the game actually teaches Intelligent Design. It goes both ways...
(That's what she said)
I don't intend on dropping by the "anti" site anytime soon but I don't believe in creationism. I believe in evolution of any species on the planet. Past, present and future organisms had to adapt to things, right?
DARWIN! DARWIN!DARWIN! DARWIN!DARWIN! DARWIN!DARWIN! DARWIN!DARWIN! DARWIN!
I'm honestly thinking it's real. Someone being oversensitive. I wouldn't be surprised to find out my grandma wrote this.....it sounds like her. The thing people don't get is this. Not everyone agrees with you. You might think creationism is the way, but, unfortunately for you, there are a lot of people that don't even believe in a god. Calm down, say "if you respect me, I respect you, but here is what I believe", and get over it. Oh, and when it comes to 'Sporn', any of us with half a brain realize that it's dumb and childish. It might have gotten a little giggle, but stop making it a big deal and it won't be a big deal. We all know what a penis and boobs look like. And if your worried about the kids, if they don't know what it is, they won't put that assumption toward it. They might be curious, but they'll remain curious until they find out what it is. And the more you let it show you're worried about them seeing it, the more determined they are going to be to know what it is.
I'm not sure if it's real or not, but the only conclusion I think we can all come to is that the person running the site has too much time on his or her hands.
"Scarry"... I've read the website, and that's the only word that came though my mind.
Thank god (lol) not EVERY creationist has a radically closed mind.
