Assassin's Creed 2 DLC Detailed

But Should You Already Have It?

by Veggie Jackson

A couple of weeks ago, we got word from Ubisoft that two DLC packs would eventually be coming for Assassin’s Creed 2.  They even told us the 2 DLC packs’ names; Battle of Forli and Bonfire of the Vanities.  The only things we didn’t know were what the packs entailed, what they would cost, when they were coming, and … well, pretty much everything else there was to know.  Today, though, Ubi has made with the details

The "Battle of Forli" is the first pack, coming at the end of January, and will cost 3.99 or 320.  This pack will feature six new memories, through which players will “accomplish a daring rescue and prevent the Piece of Eden from falling into the hands of the Templars.  "The Bonfire of the Vanities," due in late February, will cost $4.99, or 400, and task players with freeing Florence from "the grip of the mad monk Savonarola" with the help of Machiavelli.  It will also add a new district to Florence, as well as granting Ezio a new ability; the Spring-Jump.

The only question now is, “Are these worth it?”  Many are speculating that the DLC packs are basically content that was in the game, then pulled out so that Ubisoft could sell them later for more profit.  The facts that the two packs fill the empty 12th and 13th segments of the game, and that every voice actor has been retained for the DLC packs, lends credence to the theory that Ubi is skimping on content.  I certainly hope that this isn’t the case.  Publishers removing features, then making them downloadable for a charge is the exact thing that so many gamers were afraid would happen.  If Ubi has withheld content, then they are guilty of betraying gamers’ trust and of misusing the DLC model.  If not, it’s just more awesome content for a great game.

DLC, especially well priced DLC like this, is also inarguably used to try and combat at least a piece of the used game market. It gives players a reason to hang on to their games instead of trading them in, decreasing the used game supply and increasing possible new game purchases post launch. It also gives devs a way of salvaging some profit from used game buyers that might get the game 6 months after it is out, while Ubi won't get anything from their retail purchase, at least they can get those new to the game on the back end with DLC.

i think its all about profit .

these two parts was actually on the original game but instead of puting them all in one game they want to make more profit with these two parts and they replace them with (DEMO for assassin's creed 1 ) Desmond Dream. for the people who didn't play the first one. why do you think that PC edition will be release on february ? because the game will be completed on february with the missing parts .

also they made three different editions for the same game you have Black , white and limited edtions, each one has an exclusive maps ? compar it with MW 2 and its Prestige Edition the content of the game are the same
i think that ubi open a new door for profit.
also you have a special weapons that only on PS3 ? to get these wopeans you have to buy and play Assassin's Creed Bloodlines on PSP.

    its all about profit.

its a great and brilliant Game but why all this nonsense
