Battlefield: Bad Company – NO WEAPONS FOR SALE!

Power To The People

Apparently, the “boycott” actually worked!  As most of you know, there has been much harumphing and hubbub over EA’s plan to make exclusive weapons for Battlefield: Bad Company available only by purchasing the Gold Edition of the game or by (gasp!) buying them online with real live money.  Well, believe it or not, EA listened.  In an interview with Kotaku, EA DICE senior producer, Karl-Magnus Troedsson, addressed the issue, declaring that there will be no exclusive weapons for sale.

The five Gold Edition Weapons will be included on both versions of the game, but only on the $69.99 Gold Edition will they be usable immediately.  On the $59.99 standard edition, players will have to reach the game’s final rank to unlock them.  The other five weapons will be available for download, at no charge, in conjunction with EA marketing promotions.

Fair enough.  But why’d you have to go and spoil it by being a spin-doctor, Mr. Troedsson?  Despite the very clear declaration by EA that “For players who do not purchase the Gold Edition of the game, they can still buy the five weapons at a small individualized price per item,” he is now stating that the whole thing was a miscommunication, and that EA never planned to charge for the add-ons.  Come on.  We all know that this was whole thing was a test balloon for future DLC exploitation of this kind, and that it was quickly shot down by public outcry.  Gotta love them internets.

No, it didn't work, they were always going to be like this. This is EA saying "...yeah, that's why we did that."
